Recently Completed Obatala Obamoro Custom Commission by Client's Request

Posted on October 27, 2011 at 11:55 PM Comments comments (0)

Recently, I received the following message from a potential client:

"Hi & benedictions~

My name is Carol. Tobe Melora Correal said that she FB'd you that I'd be contacting you.

I was wondering if I could buy an Obatala Ide (Lucumi style) - white with splashes of lavender (i think). I would need it in the next 2 weeks, if possible."

After contacting the client in order to discuss the details, payment was made and I got to work.

The following images show my creative process for the custom Obatala Obamoro Ide, from beginning to end.

An Ide for Obatala Obamoro, white with lavender accents, was born.

The client then sent me the following thank you note, complete with a photograph of the custom Ide on her arm:

"Got it! It's beautiful & fits perfectly! I really wanna wear it but I guess I should wait for it 2 b washed (ceremony end of next wk). Thx also 4 the sweet note & necklace. Gorgeous. It's been an honor!

'Dupe :-)"

To all future clients:

Please be aware that I will be happy to create the perfect custom Eleke, Ide, Mazo, Collar, etc. for you.

In order to assure the best final product, dialogue between the client and me will be necessary . If you are interested in commissioning me to create a custom item, please go to the Contact Me tab and leave me a detailed message.

"Hands for the Orisa"

Posted on May 15, 2011 at 3:34 AM Comments comments (0)

"Hands for the Orisa"

While creating Orisa inspired works of art, I am taking baby steps to receiving my Orisa Osun. I have been studying Ifa with my Godmother for nearly seven years.

My Godmother is a high Priestess of Ifa. Osun is her mothering Orisa; and Osun is very strong within me.

I started, by receiving the Seven African Powers, several years ago. Next came my Ori pot. And most recently, I received my Warrior/Esu Elegba pot.

When I am creating grand scale Orisa commission pieces for my clients, featured in the Photo Gallery of this website, the experience is very much like spirit possession.

It is, as if, I am only the hands for the Orisa.
